A touch of nature

On the fourth day the workshops continued, only this time they took lace in area schools. Half the pupils went to Okoli, half to Gornja Vlahinička. In Okoli they learned names of fruits and vegetables in each other's languages, made a sowing calendar and posters with fruits and vegetables. The main activity comprised of planting a couple of rows in the garden, where they planted onions, strawberries, and sowed salad and other vegetables.

In Gornja Vlahinička they had to name several types of dried herbs used for making tea, pack it into bags and decorate the packing. They also learned how to make natural balm and what its medicinal properties are. They made marigold balm all on their own and packed it. To see how suited for learning the atmosphere was, visit the gallery.

After the wonderful workshops we made a couple of group photos and visited the cooling facility owned by the Kiš family in Velika Ludina. There the pupils learned about the process of preserving and sorting fruit, and also got to taste some delicious apples and all natural apple juice. Gallery.
